Southwest Florida
Southwest Florida E-Bike & Bike Trails
From island paths and coastal greenways to canal-side corridors through Fort Myers and Naples, Southwest Florida has a genuinely varied trail lineup. A few things to know before you ride: Sanibel Island's shared-use paths are restricted to Class 1 e-bikes only (pedal-assist, 20 mph max) for riders 16 and older — no Class 2 or 3 allowed, and e-bikes are banned on beaches and dunes. Fort Myers Beach re-allowed e-bikes on sidewalks in 2025 (Ord. 25-03) at 15 mph, but they remain banned on the beach itself and in the downtown Times Square zone. Every trail is listed below with its full details — length, surface, e-bike access, and more — so you know exactly what to expect before you leave the driveway.
Page last reviewed: June 2025. E-bike policies, trail conditions, and local ordinances change — always confirm current access with the trail's managing agency and check posted signage at the trailhead before you ride.
